Neanderthal with moons

Following is a step by step process I am putting together mainly for myself,I change paintings as I make them and am finally documenting the changes.  Hopefully this will help  allay the fear that the paintings become worse, not better as they develop.
I am sharing it because a few people have asked about the process I go through to arrive at some fairly unexpected images.
I start with an idea that is building on some older paintings that have gotten a lot of good feedback.  I made two paintings of cro magnon skulls that have a floral motif painted on them.  (Image of the pink one is included here.)
Why make these particular images?  Well...it's a long story, suffice to say the images for the most part come to me unbidden.  It's sort of a synthesis of thought and experience.
The good ideas stick around and I am eventually forced to make the paintings in order to understand them.
